Oslo’s First Full-Scale Vertical Biosolar Rooftop Installation

In June 2023, Over Easy Solar completed its first full-scale vertical biosolar rooftop installation in Oslo, marking a major milestone in the commercialization of vertical solar technology for green roofs.

Building on a successful pilot project in 2022, the installation expanded the system size tenfold and demonstrated the scalability of Over Easy Solar’s prefabricated VPV (Vertical Photovoltaic) units. Thanks to the lightweight, ballast-free and penetration-free design, the entire mechanical installation was completed in just one day.

The system delivers a peak power of 45 kWp and is expected to generate up to 50,000 kWh annually, based on real-world performance data from the pilot installation. Covering approximately 600 m², the project seamlessly integrates vertical solar panels with a living green roof, maximizing both energy production and environmental benefits.

The project was realized in close collaboration with Oslobygg KF and SMART Oslo, with pilot financing provided by SMART Oslo, and expert project management by Solenergi FUSen.

This installation demonstrates how vertical biosolar solutions can unlock rooftop solar potential in dense urban environments—without compromising green roof performance, aesthetics, or building integrity.
