Next2Sun and Over Easy Solar cooperation to advance vertical PV solutions

Solar power doesn't have to lie flat anymore. In a move set to push vertical photovoltaics further into the European mainstream, German vertical PV specialist Next2Sun and Norwegian technology company Over Easy Solar AS have agreed to establish a strategic partnership focused on joint sales and marketing for vertical solar solutions.

Announced on 27 May 2026 from Dillingen, Germany and Oslo, Norway, the collaboration brings together two companies whose technologies fit together almost perfectly — one rooted in the ground, the other on the roof.

Why Vertical PV Is Gaining Ground

Vertical PV is winning attention as both an alternative and a complement to conventional tilted panels. By standing modules upright and using bifacial technology that captures light on both faces, vertical systems deliver a more balanced generation profile — with stronger yields in the morning and evening rather than a single midday spike.

That shift matters more than it sounds. A flatter, longer production curve:

  • Aligns better with real electricity demand

  • Supports higher self-consumption

  • Helps relieve grid congestion during midday peaks

Vertical PV also unlocks multifunctional land use. Panels can be woven into farmland, infrastructure corridors, fences, and the space alongside buildings — often preserving, or even enhancing, the site's primary purpose. Better surface access and stronger resilience to snow and soiling round out the appeal across a wide range of climates.

Complementary Strengths, One Shared Mission

The partnership works because the two companies rarely compete — they cover different ground, literally. Next2Sun specializes in bifacial vertical PV for ground-mounted installations, agrivoltaics, and infrastructure applications, including its well-known solar fence. Over Easy Solar has engineered lightweight vertical PV units for flat roofs and green roofs, built for fast, low-load installation where conventional tilted systems struggle.

Together, they can guide customers across the full vertical-PV landscape — from rooftops to fences, industrial sites to agrivoltaic projects.

"Vertical PV is gaining momentum as a solution that enables efficient land use, grid-friendly generation profiles and new application areas," says Sascha Krause-Tünker, CFO of Next2Sun. "By teaming up with Over Easy Solar, we are strengthening our market presence and offering customers a broader portfolio of proven vertical PV solutions."
"This cooperation allows us to jointly address different segments of the vertical PV market and further establish the technology as a viable and scalable option," adds Trygve Mongstad, Founder and CEO of Over Easy Solar.

What the Partnership Means for You

The two companies plan to collaborate on joint marketing initiatives, coordinated sales activities, and mutual lead exchange. For EPCs, installers, building owners, farmers, and developers, that translates into easier access to complementary solutions — and a real way to generate more renewable energy on sites where traditional solar designs hit their limits.

About Next2Sun

Next2Sun is the inventor and technology leader in vertically installed, bifacial photovoltaics — a technology that enables countercyclical power generation in the morning and evening hours, contributing to better grid stability and lower storage requirements. Built on patented system technology, its product range includes vertical agrivoltaics for dual-use farmland and the solar fence. With more than 60 MWp of projects realized in Germany and abroad and over 140 employees across Germany, Austria, Poland, and Japan, the Next2Sun Group (founded 2015) is a multi-award-winning leader in sustainable PV for agriculture, municipalities, commerce, and the private sector.

About Over Easy Solar

Over Easy Solar AS is a Norwegian solar technology company founded in 2021 and headquartered in Oslo. It has developed a prefabricated vertical PV system for flat roofs, designed to make rooftop solar easy to install where conventional tilted systems are limited by roof load, ballast, penetrations, wind, green-roof requirements, or access. With installations across Europe and North America — over 60 projects in more than 15 countries — Over Easy Solar is a frontrunner in vertical rooftop PV, working with building owners, installers, roofing partners, and green-roof specialists to unlock underused flat rooftops.
